OK I'm not one for toilet humor, but this was actually laugh out loud funny for me. a little predictable and stretched out maybe, but its part of its charm.

Getting a sitcom is so easy a caveman did it
According to Variety.com, ABC is trying to transform those quaint little "So easy a caveman can do it" Gieco commercials into a 30 minute sitcom for prime time TV.
First of all i must say that i'm a vey big fan of those commercials and i think that its a lovely idea, but will it last.
As some of you might know this is not the first time something like this has happened. The fictional character of Ernest P. Worrell also started out a commercial that later moved on to a small series and a number of motion pictures carrying the trademark prefix of "Ernest goes to...".
Now as much as I enjoyed Earnest goes to jail as a child I don't think that it will hold the same appeal for me anymore, but who knows...
This might be the start of a very intresting career for the loveable, tennis playing, roast duck eating cavemen

Back For today
Well it's obvious that I haven't been here for a while i guess. You can tell by the fact that i've been reading the same book for over 3 months now :P.
Anyway life has taken a few surprising turns for me. People came, people gone...and i felt blogging wasn't the thing for me right then, but I'm back and hopefully we'll get something done this time.
First things first i have apologise for recommending "little mosque on the prairie" for you at the beginning of the year. Although the show is not terrible, but I believe that this is not what many people had in mind.
Although I will continue to watch the show whenever i get the chance I don't thinkits going to be be on "Sam's Must See List".
Ans speaking of shows and TVs. I've been putting alot of thought into turning one of my computers into a DVR. I've always had the idea in the back of my head, but it never really materialized into anything until I got into open source software about a month back in my feeble attempt to "stick it to the man"...
For those of you who dont know a DVR/PVR is a Digital/Personal Video Recorder which is basically a device that records broadcasts on a hard disk drive which can then be played back at a later time. This allows you to pause, rewind and edit -remove commercials from- "live TV". I assume you've gathered since i've already mentioned open source that i'm not really into paying for this stuff so Tivo is definatly out for me and when theres a will theres a way and I've found my way...
Using open source software and an unused old computer you can your very own DVR for a fraction of the price with no subscription fees... Oh before i forget when I talk about software I usually mean windows software since I don't currently own a linux box.
First of all you need to show some green... I never said it was free...and buy a TV capture card. The most highly recommended - and my personal choice - are the Hauppauge cards some of them also allow on card encoding which works better if you're planning to use an older PC like me (Entry model starts at $150 canadian at furtue shop).
Of course this is not carved in stone there is a sea of choices out there. Just choose the one you feel most comfortable with.(You may also want to consider a DVB card which lets your recieve sattalite signals directly to your computer) Now the thing is this card comes with its own software for tv recording, but i've always felt the need to deviate from the norm so I'd like to recommend a few options you have at this point.
you can:
Use the card's software which works just fine
Use an open source alternative completely free such as Media Portal
Or Buy Some specialized software like Sage
Well now you're set. All you have to do is connect everything like it says in the manual. Its not that hard. and you should end up being the proud owner of your very own DVR.
