Internet was finally capped yesterday... I didn't think the bastards would do it after that first email they sent. I only have 64k shared over a really bad wlan connection by two computers. I guess I won't be watching any new shows for the next couple of days.
And I was really looking forward to finding a copy of that show Carnivale from HBO
I was spending a lot of time in the video store this week for some reason I have this sudden urge to watch as many old movies as humanly possible.
Movieland downstairs has a pretty decent selection too. I finally found a copy of the GumBall Rally that i've been looking for, but it was out so i had to settle with the original 1963 Nutty Professor starring Jerry Lewis thats the comedian/actor not Jerry Lee Lewis The Rock and Roll Singer... I got them confused too for some reason :P
I was also able to finally rent blade runner, but i slept half way through the movie. This director's cut version really sucks!
I'm also still reading the picture of Dorian Gray. This book is really amazing not only in its fearless portrayal of its hedonist protagonist and the amazing theory on life that he discovers almost instantaneously after the fear of old age is taken out of the equation. Its not whether you agree or disagree its just that its there. I wouldn't call my new favourite book of all time, but its pretty high up on the list....
Even though summer has started and I have more than enough time to do anything I want I'm still taking my time reading this book just so I could let all the new ideas settle in. Which is not really that hard considering that I spend most of my time just sitting around doing nothing. I hate this inactivity, but I can't bring myself to escape it. I've been using what I've affectionately called the "Brain Dead" technique to escape my life more and more often. The problem is there is nothing to escape. I live a great life. I have friends, family, enough money to do pretty much what any guy my age would want to do and the freedom to use it. I just feel broken ... I wonder when this stupid feeling will go away....

Really Weird Tornado
What's the difference between HURRICANES AND TORNADOES?
Hurricanes and tornadoes both form in warm, damp air when winds blow into each other from opposite directions. Hurricanes develop over warm, tropical oceans, while tornadoes form over land and are more violent. In a hurricane, the winds swirl around in a spiral at up to 200 mph. In the middle is a calm "eye" 4 - 25 miles wide, surrounded by the worst wind and driving rain.
A tornado is a tall, funnel-shaped whirlwind of cloud up to 2,000 feet high. In the middle is an eye of descending air, surrounded by a strong upward current that sucks up or destroys everything in its path. Tornadoes can travel hundreds of miles before they die down.
Now you know!

Engr 301 - Lecture 1 MindMaps
Those who check out my facebook courses probably know that i'm currently taking Engr 301.
A stupid course to say the least, but a part of my core nonetheless. I've already been fed this information 3 times in Engineering Management (INDU 330), Financial and Managerial accounting (Acco 220) and Mirco Economics (I don't remember the code :P).
Anyway the big guys in Concordia ... Yes I'm talking to you dean Esmail... thought that I should learn this crap one last time before I graduate so here we are.
To make life easier I've prepared some Mindmaps for the first lecture that really helped me in the first quiz - Check out my Post on Mindmaps here -
If you haven't read my post on Mindmaps you need the free software "FreeMind" to open those *.mm files which could be found here
Anyway I zipped both files for your convenience and you can download them here
Enjoy :)

Stand To the Crowd
"According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy."
~Jerry Seinfeld
The Fear of public speaking is nothing new to most of us. Everybody has felt it at some point in their life. It gets better with time, but I don't think it ever really goes away, but that doesn't mean that we're prepared to be slaves to our fears.
Blogger Scott Young feels the same way and has posted 5 very interesting "hacks" that I believe can be very useful in releaving some of the stress of public speaking...
Hack #1: Rephrase Questions
When you get asked a question, spend a few seconds to rephrase the question. If you are giving a speech to an audience this has the first benefit of clearly stating the audience members question for everyone to hear. But the hidden benefit of doing this is that it gives you a few extra seconds to prepare a response.
Polished professional speakers and interview veterans can prepare for common questions in advance with a great reply. But if you don’t have the experience or a question throws you off balance, you can maintain composure by rephrasing the question. To everyone it looks as if you immediately knew an eloquent response, but in reality you were given a few seconds to process a response.
